About

Between the kopitiam and the café chain

One owns the flavour but not the experience. The other owns the experience at a price most Malaysians will not pay every day. OFF9 is the space in between, and it is a bigger space than it looks.

Affordable premium is the whole idea. Local beans roasted dark and pulled through a sock filter, teh pulled until the foam holds, an espresso bar for the mornings that call for one — made with the care a café would give it, at the prices a kopitiam charges.

The format is a kiosk, deliberately. A small footprint fits where a café cannot: a mall concourse, the walk to a train gate, a lobby. Lower rent, faster service, and a counter you reach in a few steps rather than a room you commit to sitting in.

What makes it more than a coffee counter is what comes out of the oven — and what goes home in a freezer bag.

Brewing Good Days

Not a slogan about coffee. A slogan about the four minutes of somebody’s morning that we are responsible for.

Two things that change the shop

The oven, and the freezer

01

Fresh bake, all day

Mini croissants and Hong Kong egg tarts are baked in small batches right through the trading day, not delivered once each morning.

The commercial argument is the aroma. A kiosk that smells of butter and pastry at 3pm converts people who had no intention of buying anything.

02

Thaw & bake at home

The same pastries, semi-finished and blast-frozen, sold as packs you bake yourself.

It lifts the basket, and it is the only part of the menu that does not need a kiosk to sell — which makes it the seed of a distribution business.

Where this goes next

More kiosks, mall partnerships, franchising, distribution of the frozen line, event booths and corporate catering — toward a leading modern Malaysian kopi and fresh-bake brand.
